FAQs

What is ISMAA?

ISMAA stands for Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices.

The Australian Government has contracted Apprenticeships Are Us to provide Mentoring for Australian Apprentices in the automotive industry across New South Wales and Victoria.

Apprenticeships Are Us offers 1st and 2nd year apprentices intensive support throughout the first two years of their Apprenticeship, with the goal of assisting in the retention and completion.

How does it work?

Our mentors are automotive industry professionals.

The Mentor, with you, will develop an Individual Mentoring Plan which focuses on the challenges faced by you and develops strategies and goals to address them.

These challenges could include:

career pathway advice, motivation, confidence, technical skill development, workplace support, support from family/partner/friends, periods of personal difficulty, workplace issues, financial difficulties etc

How much does it cost? The Australian Government is funding the program.
Do I have to be involved?

It is up to you.

There are a number of benefits:

  • expert advice on career options, pathways, and skills development requirements within the automotive industry
  • individualised technical, career and pathway advice relevant to the changing nature of work within the industry and personal areas of interest
